Who We Are
Carl Folta is a Senior Counselor with more than three decades of experience in all facets of public relations, including financial, marketing and internal communications, and corporate social responsibility. Carl joined Abernathy MacGregor in 2017 and provides strategic counsel, including media relations, crisis communication, litigation support and reputational management, to a range of clients with focus on the media and entertainment industries. Carl’s recent client engagements include Lionsgate Entertainment; Entertainment Partners; Gibson Brands; Caruso©, one of the largest privately held real estate companies in the U.S.; and the creator and executive producers of The Walking Dead.
From 1994 to 2016, Carl was Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications at Viacom Inc., a global media company. He served as chief communications strategist and spokesperson, responsible for public relations activities for the company’s global operations, which included Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, BET, CMT, and Paramount Channel and its film studio, Paramount Pictures. His tenure spanned a highly active, multi-decade period of mergers and acquisitions in the media industry, including Viacom’s acquisition of Paramount Communications (formerly Gulf+Western Industries), Blockbuster Video, and CBS Corporation, as well as numerous other U.S. and international media assets.
Carl is a Trustee of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, Chairman of the Board of Literacy, Inc., and a Director of the Staying Alive Foundation.
